WORKSHOPS

  • Are postponed till August 2021
  • All already accepted participants will be re-invited
  • Exact dates, deadlines and other details will follow

We have decided to continue with the conference and exhibition electronically/virtually this year for many reasons. One of them is that we want to continue the good work and thinking that has already happened around it. The blind peer review process and selection process had already taken place. Second, there will be many events postponed in the next months and many people will be very busy. Also, this crisis will probably be followed by economical crisis and many people might not be able to travel to join physically. Finally, we find it quite exciting that we might make an ecological way to do Critical Costume 2020: without travelling.

We know that a conference is primarily a place to meet each other in person. For this reason, we have invented the online working groups that will supplement this aspect at least in part.

On the positive note – we are excited to gain a long-term online video library that can be used in years to come by students and researchers. Another positive effect is that fact that the panel discussions from September until December 2020 will be curated as a second step following the conference, which might create a second process for reflections and in-depth discussions.

We will be sending detailed information, including the updated timeline on April 21st. Please be patient now and give us some time to finish the detailed planning.

Take care and stay safe!

Update on the current situation in relation to the corona virus

Due to the situation of the Covid 19 virus and considering that Critical Costume 2020 is five months away, the team of Costume Agency and Critical Costume have decided to wait for another month following how the situation will evolve before making any changes to the plans for the event. At this point it seems that the situation is fluid so any attempt to plan in the long term is still unclear. The team will continue working on the preparation of the event towards the planned dates.

On April 15th we expect to have a clearer picture and we will publish updates regarding whether the event will need to be postponed.

Please follow the websites of www.costumeagency.khio.no and www.criticalcostume.com

Meanwhile, we encourage the selected conference speakers to further develop their papers and the workshop participants to develop their plans for the workshops with the dancers/actors.

For persons that need a confirmation of participation in order to apply for support to travel or in order to apply for visa, we will process these consecutively. Please contact us regarding this.

For questions, please contact us at criticalcostume2020@gmail.com
